Into the Woods Scenic Projections

Overall, projections bring a cinematic element to the theatrical medium. By enhancing theatrical productions in these ways, scenic projections create a more engaging theatre-going experience for audiences of all ages, allowing them to be absorbed in a truly stunning delivery.

“Into the Woods” cycles through many emotions throughout the enchanted storyline. Using intense color and texture, we’ve designed our projections to match these feelings. Each story throughout the course of the musical has a look evocative of a pop-up children’s book. Lighting corresponds with each individual scene and mood. As the wolf approaches Little Red Riding Hood, the screen darkens red, inspired by the color of blood.

Using a 3D and 2D combined effect, the forest appears vast and endless. As Little Red Riding Hood skips through the forest, our projections move with her, giving the illusion she’s covered much ground. This projection series can be used as a full-set replacement or simply as a backdrop. Almost all of our clients use projections for “Into the Woods” to replace their entire set, creating a large-scale canvas for the actors to work with.

Scenic projections provide theatres with an incredible capacity for visual expression, creating a tangible piece of drama in which the mood of a show can be conveyed effortlessly to the audience.
