Wizard of Oz Scenic Projections

The scenic projections for “The Wizard of Oz” match the magnificence of the 1939 film. Brought to life in full 3-D animated color, the audience can walk alongside Dorothy as she travels the Yellow Brick Road.

Every show-stopping, magical moment is included in this projection series. Beginning with a sepia-toned Kansas farm, the landscape is in full 3-D. Scenes are carefully matched, allowing Dorothy to run from the river bank back to the farm, as the tornado approaches. The tornado captures the entire scene and engulfs all objects onstage. The interior of the tornado, as well as the spinning farm house are shown as the tornado ultimately catapults the house into the multi-colored, full 3-D Munchkinland.

Multiple scenes of the Yellow Brick Road are combined, allowing the actors on stage to walk in place towards the audience as the projections give the illusion the scenery behind them is changing. A hologram-like image of the Wizard of Oz works perfectly with a pre-recorded or live-action voice during the performance. The interior and exterior of the witch’s castle is complete with a travelling 3-D sequence, showing the actors walking into the castle.

These stunning projections of “The Wizard of Oz” can be used as a full-set replacement, or to complement a more complex staging as an updated backdrop alternative.

Scenic projections provide theatres with an incredible capacity for visual expression, creating a tangible piece of drama in which the mood of a show can be conveyed effortlessly to the audience.
